It is the commonly used ink today. It works well for graphic prints, tonal prints and high build prints (high density prints). these inks are solvent based and are very flexible due to pvc content. However pvc free versions are available but with limits in performance and flexibility. hand feel is harsher compared to rubber prints. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº. colour migration may occur on some fabrics with polyester blends. not recommended for heavy washes or dry cleaning.
Rubber inks are water based and does not necessarily need curing. these inks can be used to obtain a good coverage and bright colours. Hand feel is soft and can be controlled to a great extent depending on base fabic & print colour. the term “rubber” is loosely used in this instance. Ideally it can be called water based opaque and clear binders. the most eco friendly inks are available in these types. Rubber inks are very versatile and can be applied on almost any kind of fabric . Inks are very color fast and is also ideal for wash garments.
PIGMENT PRINTS are water based inks. Recommended on white and light coloured fabrics. very soft hand feel, as the inks are transparent, colours will not be visible on dark fabrics. very colorfast and recommended for wash garments. opaque colors cannot be made as the ink is transparent but could be achieved with the addition of water based opaque binders( rubber binders). some types of pigment inks are commonly used in automatic printing machines.
Water based and solvent based. can be used on most types of fabrics. needs curing to achieve raised effect. not recommended on nylon fabrics. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº colour migration may occur on some fabrics with polyester blends. not recommended for heavy washes or dry cleaning.
Polyester glitter flakes can be sprayed or printed mixed with special transparent inks. needs curing to bond to the fabric. available in a range of sizes , colors, shapes. not recommended for heavy wash garments. can be applied using either plastisol or water based inks. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº color variations may occur within a range as the glitter deposits on prints cannot be controlled to a degree.
Solvent based, glossy and sticky effect. needs heat application between 170 -190 degrees centigrade. not recommended on wash garments. This process requires dischargeble fabric. it is a 2 part ink process . when these inks are mixed with dyes and printed, the printed color reacts on application of heat and replaces the ground color and gives a print with very soft hand feel. good print durability. discharge prints are chosen for soft feel prints on dark ground. Designs are printed with special adhesives and then pvc/glass beads are poured when ink is still wet and sent through the dryers for fixation. any colour could be printed underneath and then topped up with clear caviar beads to give a colourfull beady finish. not suitable for heavy washes. fabric should withstand 160-180 cº FLOCK PRINTS DIRECT FLOCK Rayon or nylon fibers applied to screen printed designs using electrostatic flocking process. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº . not recommended for heavy washes or dry cleaning. TRANSFER FLOCK Designs are printed with hot melt adhesives. flock transfer sheets are placed on the designs and then heat transferred. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº This technique can only be used on a two layered fabric comprising of a cotton and polyester blend. the layer of cotton or polyester is taken out as per artwork during the process. the panel / garment has to be washed to obtain the required finish. Designs are printed with special adhesives. foil sheets are placed on the designs and then heat transferred. fabrics used should be able to withstand a temperature of 160 cº to 180 cº not suitable for heavy washes. recommended wash : cold water ( 30 cº) light wash inside out Unique technology where sublimation inks are printed onto specially treated paper. works well on polyester fabrics, can be applied on cotton, but brightness of print will be low. ultra soft hand feel good for allover cartoon graphics, photo quality prints etc. ground color has to be white or very light color. very durable print. maximum size = 11” x 16” (a3) |
